Photographing Sacred Heart University's Dingle Campus - May 2026

Our photographs from the Sacred Heart University Dingle campus have been included in a Zumtobel Lighting (www.zumtobel.co.uk/en-gb) case study — a project we shot on commission for the lighting company who fitted out the entire campus, inside and out.

The client was the lighting contractor responsible for the full Zumtobel installation across the Dingle campus — every interior space and every exterior fitting, from the teaching rooms and circulation areas to the approach lighting outside. The brief was simple: produce imagery that showed what the scheme actually felt like on site, across a full day and into the evening.

Sacred Heart University's Dingle campus sits on Ireland's Atlantic coast, designed by Scott Tallon Architects, with Dingle Bay in front and the mountains behind. It's a building that lives or dies on its light — coastal midday, golden hour, and that slate-blue window after sunset when the interior fittings take over and the bay goes dark.

We worked a full day on site. Morning, midday, afternoon, dusk. The hardest frames — and the ones the client ended up using most — came in that last hour, when the contrast between the lit interior and the dark bay outside was at its most extreme. That's also when the Zumtobel scheme is doing its real work: the building stops being architecture and becomes atmosphere.

The case study walks through how the lighting was designed and installed across the campus. Our job was to show the outcome honestly, without flattering the fixtures or flattening the space. Getting it featured in the published case study is a good signal the pictures did that job.
